LANA RICICLATA = LANA MULESING FREE

We take care of our suppliers

For a wool textile company like us, the walfare of our first and most important suppliers is indispensable for our business. The practice of mulesing on the sheep has been greatly debated recently and reported in the media all over the world.

Unfortunately it seems that the practice of mulesing is currently the only real option available to many farmers to prevent fly strike. A stop to mulesing requires the discovery of an acceptable and practical new method that removes wrinkle in sheep. Until this happens, many farmers will be obliged to continue mulesing to prevent their sheep from greater long term pain and suffering.

Anyway Intespra is convinced that the fight against mulesing will push farmers to create and develop an alternative method that does not cause suffering to sheep. For this reason we are working in collaboration with our wool suppliers in order to be able to offer alternative supplies that we can verify are non-mulesed. Since the problem is mostly concentrated in certain regions of Australia due to the climate there, we are able to source alternative supplies from other countries that we can verify are non-mulesed by proof of country of origin.

If wool is purchased from Australia, then we can provide certifications and wool processors to authenticate the supplies of wool are non-mulesed.

Due to Australia being the largest supplier of wool and the fly strike problem being mostly concentrated there, the supply of non-mulesed wool currently remains limited.

In this time we are to be able to source non-mulesed wool at our customers requests, and hope with time that the practice of mulesing can be replaced by an alternative not painful method, allowing us to reach our goal of being able to source 100% of our wool from non-mulesed flocks.

RECYCLED WOOL = MULESING FREE WOOL

About 80% of our products is made with recycled wool: for this reason we was the first textile company to obtain "Cardato recycled" brand.

Recycled wool comes from old clothing and/or textile scraps, and for this reason, since it is not new wool, it is surely no-mulesed.

Using recycled wool we respect the environment and we reduce the use of new wool and,as a consequence, the practice of mulesing.
